Discovered as a broom mutation on ‘Aoyagi by Raraflora Nursery in Australia, ‘Shidava Gold’ has all the amazing features of its parent tree, but a smaller more compact habit. ‘Shidava Gold’ leafs out with bright green leaves in the spring, turning to a rich green for the summer. Fall color ranges from light yellow to deep rich yellow. During the winter the bright green stems make this tree a great companion with other coral bark interest trees. Some often even plant them side by side so their bark can play off the contrast with each other. ‘Shidava Gold’ may reach 7-8 ft in height in 15 years.
