'Chokei ji' is a seedling selection by Masayohi Yano that was found as a chance seedling from 'Shinobu ga oka' in Japan and introduced in 1989. This amoenum selection leafs out with heavily divided leaves that are a pink to orange with green veins. This spring color is extremely attractive. The overall habit of 'Chokei ji' is upright with a semi-pendulous habit. In the autumn, 'Chokei ji' turns to bright yellows to orange. 'Chokei ji' may reach up to 12 ft in 10 years.
