Satsuki Azalea With Vivid Red Blooms

‘Amagasa’ is a classic Satsuki azalea that has a nice bright red to orange red flower in mid-to-late spring. The vivid red color is quite bright and unique making this a popular azalea for many breeders to use as a parent when hybridizing azaleas. ‘Amagasa’ may reach 3-4 ft in height and width in 10 years. ‘Amagasa’ is a selection from Japan that was found as a seedling from ‘Huzan’. It was imported to the United States from Kairyo Nursery in  Japan. The name ‘Amagasa’ is said to translate as ‘Umbrella’, which is fitting as the petals on the blooms are typically overlapping. ‘Amagasa’ makes a nice colorful small azalea for the landscape and garden.

All azaleas are 1 gallon containers and are not currently bonsai.
