James Harris of Lawrenceville, Georgia, developed some amazing azaleas. By crossing a coral pink-red Satsuki azalea called ‘Amagasa’ with a pink Glenn Dale hybrid called ‘Grace Freeman’, he created a plant collectors' dream he named ‘Vibrant’. The large 4 inch bloom on 'Vibrant’ is variegated in a Sokojiro fashion. The white throat of the flower is quite large with a rim of pink color. This picottee flowering gem is quite astonishing blooming in mid-to-late spring. ‘Vibrant’ may reach 3 ft in height by 4 ft in width in 10 years.
