Indoors or outdoors, Aspidistra elatior gets its name of Cast Iron Plant due to its toughness and ability to grow in rough conditions. Aspidistra elatior is an evergreen accent plant that grows well in mass plantings in the ground, or a single pot on your desk in your house. This is a selection of the species that has a dark green crisp leaf. Aspidistra elatior reaches 3 ft in height and forms a nice evergreen cover. While not a highlight, cast iron plant does create an unusual star shaped bloom near the ground. This unearthly purple bloom is a sight to see when looking under the dark green foliage.
